RUTH ISRAEL INITIATIVE DEEPLY VALUES RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT WITH GOD
and so we share soul care practices in a two-fold manner.
First, we began (and continue) to engage in growth experiences and exercises that deepen your relationship with God on a trip to Israel. Special elements of soul care are part of every trip for pilgrims who travel with us around Israel. We share and teach Christian practices on site that you can use to deepen your experience in the land and also bring home with you and continue to engage with the Living God.
Second, we are on the front end of offering refreshing soul care opportunities with our Israel-based friends too.  We hope to introduce the practice of Spiritual Direction in easy-to-understand ways and times of gathering to show an observable model of the practice before giving opportunities to try it out in a mini-session and then reflect together on what it was like. Trying something new-to-us can feel a little scary, so we welcome your questions, and we will do our best to unveil any mystery surrounding this wonderful relationship-building time with the Lord.

Spiritual Direction is a one-to-one private, confidential hour with a trained helper who listens deeply to you as you describe your relationship with God and your experience of Him which also takes the time to reflect on His experience of you. It is important that you find a helping companion that fits well with your personality and current hopes for where you are in life. A Taste of Spiritual Direction: Stories from the Chair of Soul Care is a more in-depth, easy-to-read book to introduce the concept of Spiritual Direction, directors of various levels of training shares stories of what it is like to engage in this valuable and encouraging practice.
If you're interested in finding a spiritual director to accompany you for a while, you can google spiritual directors in your area, or check out the ones we have relationship with and trust. Read some Bios of these directors who have time in their schedule.
